Mental Health Services
Mental health is fundamental to our overall well-being, shaping how we think, feel, and interact with the world around us. Mental health issues can affect anyone, transcending age, gender, and background, and encompass a wide spectrum of conditions—from anxiety and depression to more complex disorders.
Dr. Brown offers a range of psychiatry and psychotherapy services to address a broad array of emotional conditions, including therapy for stress, depression, anxiety, panic disorder, and OCD. Offering both psychotherapy (talk therapy), with specializations in cognitive behavioral therapy and insight-oriented therapeutic approaches, and psychopharmacology (medication treatment), Dr. Brown ensures that each patient receives tailored, effective treatment in a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental environment, fostering healing and growth.
Understanding the importance of accessibility in mental health care, services are generally provided by telehealth, although in person treatment is also available.
Psychotherapy (Talk Therapy)
Psychotherapy involves speaking with a mental health professional about experiences and possible events that may have triggered depression, anxiety, or other symptoms. This form of therapy focuses on identifying and implementing effective strategies to reduce or eliminate these symptoms, helping patients understand and manage their mental health more effectively.
Psychopharmacology
Psychopharmacology is a treatment approach that involves the use of prescribed medications to reduce or eliminate the symptoms of depression, anxiety, or other psychiatric conditions. Psychopharmacologists prescribe a variety of medications that have been proven effective in treating these conditions. Dr. Brown brings over 30 years of substantial expertise in treating depression, anxiety, and stress with both psychotherapy and psychopharmacology.
Below are three common psychiatric conditions, each of which can be treated effectively by psychotherapy and psychopharmacology:
Depression Therapy
Therapy is offered for several types of depression, including major depression, dysthymia, postpartum depression, and seasonal affective disorder. Common symptoms managed include persistent sadness, lack of motivation, feelings of hopelessness, and restlessness.
Anxiety Therapy
Like depression, anxiety may be relatively short-lived and then resolve or it may be chronic. Anxiety disorders can be just as disabling as depression. The most common forms of anxiety are generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, social anxiety disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Stress Therapy
Stress is a psychological and physiological response to life events that disturb an individual’s personal sense of balance. While most people experience stress at some point in their lives that does not require intervention by a mental health professional, a significant acute stressor or chronic stress may often benefit from such treatment.
